I formatted my ssd from windows setup when you go to custom then tried reinstalling, something is screwed up now because when I try to pick my ssd to install windows it tells me "windows cannot be installed to this drive. The selected disk is of the gpt partition style." even though I had windows on that drive before! Please help me figure this out

Solution

delete all the partitions and click next. If only MS could write an error that clearly stated what it wanted you to do.

see step 13 here: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html

no, Legacy matches MBR, UEFI matches GPT. His PC is set up right now, its just windows likes to create the partitions itself and if it just said it in a way that was understandable I wouldn't recognise the error now.
