Basically, I am trying to make a server, and it works, but I have to re port forward every time my internet restarts, and that is annoying. So I tried to get a static IP to fix this. I followed a tutorial for my version of windows exactly as he did it, (not using his ip though) and I get DNS errors, one of them was DHCP is not enabled for "ethernet" I wasn't sure if I should use this site as I just saw you work with hardware but mabye you can help. Thanks in advance if you can.

Did you use an IP address within your network's subnet, and outside the DHCP range of your router?

Did you set a valid DNS address or did you set to obtain DNS automatically?

I will assume that you are using a router for your connections to each computer. You will have to change your router settings to reflect the ip address that you set your server to. We need to know what your set up consists of to help you out on your problem. Are you setting it up for internal use or are you setting it up for over the internet etc.

You need to go into your router and reserve the address you want. You shouldn't actually have to force an IP address in Windows, if you reserve an IP address at your router your router should always automatically assign that IP to your computer. However, forcing an IP address in Windows shouldn't cause an issue unless that address is already in use. Do you have a link to the tutorial you followed?
