My frame rate was around 150~ but after installing the new graphics card is fluctuates between around 230~ to 10~ mainly on the lower end.

Specs:
Msi z87 gd65
8Gb DDr3
Nvidia Gtx 970
windows 7 home premium
Intel i7-4770

What games are you playing and at what settings?

Also, What is your power supply?

Did you uninstall the drivers before you installed the new one in?

If not, that's what you probably have to do.

Even if others say that you don't need to, I find it better that you uninstall previous drivers and reinstall it again.

1) Make sure your power supply can handle the load.
2) Uninstall all drivers from previous graphics cards, and install the latest drivers for your current card from manufacturer/nvidia
3) Make sure your GPU temperatures are not too high (should not go over 85c)

Other notes: You could be getting a bottleneck from a old and slow HDD. Not sure, just thought I'd through that in.

I uninstalled and re installed all my drivers but the problem still occurs. I'm running a 725 Watt Cooler master power supply. The game i was taking my Fps from is League of legends on max settings. I tried lowering my settings but nothing changed the FPS was still fluctuating rapidly.
