I got a new SSD, want to put OS on it and everything already on my HDD to stay on the HDD

I got new SSD, haven't done anything with it yet, and my OS and files are all on my HDD. I only want to move my OS to the SSD and keep all files and such on the HDD. please help

You can move your OS with a cloning or a migration software. Most SSDs come with a migration utility as Paul NZ mentioned.
If you prefer cloning, you will find various software apps that can do that for you online, I personally like Acronis True Image.

The software will give you the option to select manually what gets cloned and what doesn't.

If you have the OS installation DVD/CD though, I'd recommend a fresh install on the SSD because it will prevent the transfer of all the redundant, temp and dump files from your old OS.
Cloning/migrating may be a much faster solution when installing a new HDD, but it's not as highly recommended as the clean install.
