I got the RTX 2080 is nice card upgraded from 1060 6GB, couple things bugging me only has 8GB its only 0%-5% faster than 1080Ti I’m only paying for the Ray tracing which is not even out... question is should I return the 2080 and get a 1080ti my goal is to play 4K 60fps. For the next 2 or 3 years.

Keep the '2080, it's a real beast, and don't forget the drivers are far from mature, there's a fair bit more to come.

The 2080 is a good GPU. Nvidia marketed it well and I don't believe most of their gimmicks. It should be priced as before to replace the 1080. For over $800 I think its overpriced for what you get. Everyone is saying wait for raytracing. There isn't a benchmark to show the performance with RT on. Sure we know the card can handle,RT. What if it drops your frame rates to,half? Would You use it? All these games they say will support it will be minimal support and still they will code it in ways to optimize and not use the full capability of,the card. Its never a,good,idea to buy new GPU tech because it takes years before software catches up. Just my 2 cents

All the reputable hardware reviews state that the RTX 2080 is equivalent to the GTX 1080 Ti. If the 1080 Ti is noticeably cheaper than return the 2080 and buy the 1080 Ti.

1080ti is 150 cheaper right now I might keep 2080 since everybody believes ray tracing might do well. If I get the 1080ti and few months down the road ray tracing becomes holy grail.

Remember Ray tracing is an add-on like antialiasing . it will increase the "eye candy" but will reduce frame rates. How much? Nobody knows yet but if you bought the card for Ray tracing without seeing Ray tracing benchmarks thats not a solid plan. Again I'm not saying its a bad card but Nvidia has a lot of people drinking the koolaid.

Ray tracing is a gimmick at this point and when switched on the few benchmarks we have seen FPS takes a massive dive when it’s on. If Ray tracing is the future of gaming I would expect it to take several generations of gpu and needs a few years of development pipeline to become mainstream. Look at Vulkan, although completely different it shows unless developers pick it up it doesn’t really matter.

I suppose what I’m saying is I see no good reason to pay the extra for a 2080. The benefits are marginal.

I just did a bit of research and seen where with Ray tracing on, in Nvidias own demo, they only achieved 33-48 FPS at 1080p with a 2080ti. So imagine a 2080 will get even less and this is at 1080p. Rise of the tomb raider is about the same somewhere under 60fps with a 2080ti at,1080p. Don't believe the hype.

since you already have the card just keep it. the highlight of Turing is RT capabilities but i think the one that many people will end up appreciating will not be it's RT capabilities but DLSS. this will be the feature that going to catapult 2080 several notch ahead of 1080ti in the future.
