I had progressive protection virus and now it has taken away my firewall setting

how can i reinstall my firewall when it wont allow me to access the settings

At first you have to mention that which protection virus you had. If you are getting your AV icon on the task bar then double click on it may be there you would get the settings otherwise visit official website of your AV program to know how to access settings again.

clean the virus and the firewall will work agian

Reformat, reinstall, reconfigure. Cleaning the virus is not practical because the damage has already been done.
