Not a silly question at all. AMD's 8350 is a sad story. They tried to be innovative with modules (having 2 cores working together as one). Thus, their multithreading/multicore processing is really good (slightly faster than i5-3570k) but their single core performance at 32nm showed very disappointing improvements compared to their predecessor the 45nm 1100T Phenom II. Thus, AMD really laid off a lot of employees and their stock share plummeted, resulting in major changes within the company, like CEO, yada yada..
Bottomline: AMD 8350 has serious shortcomings compared to Intel's offerings at the same price point, including high power demand, inferior performance, some outdated technology on its platform, and so much more. You can read reviews of disappointment if you google.
However, if you are interesting in buying a used processor on ebay or craigslist for a good deal, don't hesitate and buy one if that's your thing. IMO most people are trying to get rid of theirs to move on to what's available now at the 14nm fabrication technology, rather than the 8350's 32nm.
