What's up ladies and gents, I'm back. After fixing my beloved computer, I have decided to put some money into it for a better gaming experience. Let's list what I currently have.

Motherboard- Foxconn 2A92
GPU- GTX 760
CPU- AMD Phenom II x6 1090t
PSU- Not sure
RAM- 12GB
Storage- 3 Hard Drives and my OS SSD

What I'm looking for. I want a GTX 980, so I already have that figured out, I just need help finding the rest so it won't be bottle necked. I need a new CPU, PSU, and MB. I'll also need a new cooler for the CPU as well. Thanks for the help. Remember I have $1300 for everything including the 980.

Solution
So here's what I've picked out now.

Motherboard- ASUS Z97 (http://tinyurl.com/mn2q3rj)
CPU- i7-4790K (http://tinyurl.com/mtwu2qd)
GPU- ZOTAC GeForce GTX 980 (http://tinyurl.com/nlevf8a)
PSU- XFX XTR Series P1-650B-BEFX 650W (http://tinyurl.com/pvudvuq)
CPU cooler- Corsair H100i (http://tinyurl.com/anzpfmq)

Will the 650w psu be enough for all of that plus three HHDs and an SSD? Also, according to pc part picker my samsung RAM isn't compatible with that motherboard, is that true?

honestly, tom's "best cpus/gpus for the money" can answer all these questions for you, if you haven't read those articles already for this month.

what resolution monitor are you attempting to game at? that's the real question. if you're on 1080p, spending $1300 would be kind of a waste of money considering how swell the gtx 760 still is. 1440p may be another story. selling the 760 and getting a (now pretty cheap) r9 290/290x or just adding another 760 would be a pretty good move for 1440p. keep an eye out for gtx 780/780tis on the cheap, since they are being phased out, as well. theyre in and around about as fast as the 980, they just use a bit more juice from the wall.

then get yourself a core i5/i7 and a moderately priced motherboard and you're in business. and you just saved yourself a huge chunk of change.

At the moment I use a 1920/1080p monitor as my main. I have a 1600/900 as well but I usually only leave things like skype open in it. My biggest problem with my current build is fps on Arma 3. While playing the wasteland mod for it, I get about 20 fps.

a new cpu will definitely help with the low fps in arma III. how much, i do not know. but it will still be a massive upgrade if you snag an i5 4690k or i7 4790k

the build is great . 650W is plenty .If the RAM is DDR3 240 pin , it should work .

Edit : Your motherboard should suport DDR3 240 pin . Likely , the RAM will work

Edit 2: Asus Z97-A supports RAM 1333+MHz , so if the RAM is 1066MHz it likely wont work
