Question I Have 16gb of RAM, but only 7.9gb of it is usable? (JUST BUILT)

I have 16gb of OLOy OWL Ram, DDR4 3000 MHz,
R5 1600AF CPU,
GA-A320M-S2H MOBO
Windows 10 on Silicon Power 500gb M.2.

Does anyone know why the ram isn't working like it should? Is it a compatibility issue?

If you only use one slot at a time, do they both report 8 GB? Do they both work when only one slot is used?

Try swapping the RAM sticks' positions around.

We swapped it around and for some reason it worked! It's my friends pc and he lives an hour drive away, really appreciate the help. We spent some time googling around and nothing was helping. Thanks again.

I had the same problem (4GB recognised out of 8GB). It wasn't even a new PC - I have had mine for about 10 years now, and didn't open my computer shortly before it happened. Each card worked on their own but I had to swap them for both to work at the same time. That was months ago and I haven't had a problem since 🤷‍♂️
