I have 1866Mhz ram..

1866MHz ram , will the asus maximus VI hero default it to lower frequencies? If yes how do i set it to 1866MHz or atleast 1600MHz?

Set the memory clock speed in bios when loading your computer. Not really sure if default will be low.

you need to go into bios. I don't know your exact bios, but you should find the memory clock speed somewhere change it from there

If your RAM supports XMP profiles then you just need to enable the XMP profile in the BIOS. The motherboard owners manual will have instructions on how to enable the profile.

If I recall correctly it defaults to DDR3 - 1600. XMP profile will set it appropriately for you. Just have to select it.
