I have 8GB of ram but only shoes 4gb

CPU-Z says I have 8076mb of dual channel ram......but when i click on spd it shows i only have 4096mg of ram but only1 memery slot with 4096mg??

what i mean to say is that i have only 1 memery slot with 4096mb of ram .......but in syatem propertites it says i have 8gb im confused

So, lemmi get this straight. You have 1 slot, and 1 stick of 4gb memory, but your PC is saying that you have 8gb?

1. That doesn't seem very efficient.
2. I was always taught no less than 2 sticks for Dual channel MBs

i dont know much about computers but ....what im trying to say is my laptop has 8gb of ram .......but it says i have 1 memory slot with 4gb of dual channel ram......so does that =8gb of ram\?

According to that last post, it looks like 8gb memory is being seen. On the SPD tab, do any other slots show up? Should be 2 options, both being 4gb. Aside from that, everything looks ok to me.

Click on the drop box, and see if there is a Slot #2 or #3.

i clicked on slot #2 #3 #4 and nothing only slot #1 shows 4096mb

At this point the only things that come to mind are that perhaps your cpu is throttling your ram speed (if its dirty or overheating something along those lines) or that you have 2 slots of ram and one of your sticks of ram are bad.

Is this a Laptop or a Desktop? I quickly scrolled through, but I did not see mention of it.

I'm at work right now, and about to get busy, but the additional info might help others attempt to diagnose the issue.
