The only audio output that the TV has is optical. Does the transmitter have an optical input?
The optical output may have to be turned on, the TV speakers turned off, and the audio type set to PCM stereo. Check the TV manual.

Receiver is basic. Do I get a toslink receiver/transmitter will that allow me to hook up directly to the dog box port on back of tv?
