Hello,

I have a 880GM-E41 Motherboard and am looking to expand my hard drive space. The motherboard is at 3gbps and I'm looking at installing a 6gbps hard drive, I know I won't get 6gbps, but there are more attractive (specs) 6gbps out there and was wondering if I would have any conflict. I am looking at two hard drives: Seagate ST3000DM001 and Seagate ST2000DL003

Thanks for any and all advice!

you wont the hard drive controler will fail back to sata 3.0 speeds.

You won't have any problems at all, everything will just work.

Also, no hard drive ever manufactured can saturate a 3 GB/s SATA port. You'd need an SSD to see any benefit from going from SATA II to SATA III. Any difference in performance between HDDs would be minimal.
