I have a Compaq computer running Windows 7 and I can't connect to the internet. Computer is connected to wi-fi network.

Have you tried to connect the laptop to any other wifi router n checked if it connects to that n access internet?

We don't have another working router to test. But I was able to directly plug into the internet. Just can't get on internet through wireless connection.

try to enter the router settings from your laptop after connecting to wifi. (if the wifi interface connects then you should be able to enter the settings of the router using a browser even if the internet is not connected.)

After connecting to the router configure your wireless router:
1. Open
a browser (i.e. Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.) and type 192.168.1.1 in to the address bar.
2. Login in to the router.
Note:
The default username is admin and the default password is password.
If it opens then the computer has connected to the router successfully but is not able to connect to the internet for some reason.

Doesn't work. We are connected to wireless network but when I typed that address into browser it says that the connection timed out.
