Can I put a secondary amplifier between my Denon AVR and a 4 port speaker selector so that I can further amplify the secondary speakers behind the speaker selector?

Solution
Yes but how you do this depends on the receiver.
If you have a zone 2 output on the receiver then the amp can connect there. This will allow you to have different sources playing in the surround room then in the other rooms.
If you don't have this connection you can use an adapter like this one:

to the front speaker output (speaker pair B if you have A-B fronts. This will allow you to connect an amp for the remote speakers. Get one that has volume control so you can adjust the surround room volume separately from the remote speakers. You have to use your receiver in stereo or multichannel stereo when you use the remote speakers.
