Hello, i bought a new Laptop and i,m having problems to run skyrim in it
My configurations are:

GeForce GTX 960M

Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU@2.60 Ghz

16GB RAM

480 SSD

Run games like Atilla Total war in Max quality but It cant run Skyrim in low with a good framerate and the the graphics are really weird.

I dont have any mods.

Solution
Skyrim is probably using the integrated graphics instead of the 960m.

1. Open Nvidia Control Panel
2. Click Manage 3D Settings
3. Program Settings tab
4. In Select a program to customize section you need to add Skyrim.exe or select it if you already have it on list.
5. After that in Select the preferred graphics processor for this program select High-performance NVIDIA processor.
6. OK or Apply.

Ensure that the option to use the GPU when launching skyrim is enabled in the NVIDIA control panel (rightmouse click on your desktop). Then delete the config files. Those with .ini only and in your documents folder, not the game install location !

Then launch the game. It should start checking your hardware again. Once done, exit it, and verify if "GeForce 635M" is written in the skyrimprefs.ini file in your My Documents folder.
