I have a hitachi 512 gigabyte hard drive, I need drivers for windows 7

I have a virgin 512 gigabyte hitachi hard drive. I need drivers for Windows 7.

Hard drives don't normally need drivers. How is the hard drive attached to the system? You may need drivers for the chipset or adapter card that the drive is connected to.

A 512gb hitachi hard drive? The only thing you see in 512gb is SSD's, and hitachi doesn't make an SSD. And further more, the hard drive itself isn't what needs the drivers, the interface or controller might though. Can you elaborate a little bit on the rest of the system?

Go to "Control Panel\System and Security\System" and right click on the drivers that are missing and go to "properties" then click on "Details" then look scroll down until you find DEV and VEN key. Then go to this site and match them does numbers pcidatabase.com

The Award BIOS CMOS sees the Hitachi hard drive. Windows 7 Upgrade, Home Premium Edition 64-bit operating system (OS) does not see the Hitachi hard drive when booting from the OS DVD disc. Also, I have Windows Vista Upgrade, 32-bit operating system Home Premium Edition. Funny thing, when booting from Windows Vista, the system sees the Hitachi Hard Drive. I am able to format the hard drive and load the Vista OS on the Hitachi Hard Drive. Having Windows Vista loaded OS on the formatted hard drive, I shutdown the system. I then put Windows 7 OS and booted up. It detected the Hitachi hard drive. I was then able to install Windows 7 by over-writing Vista. What a pain in the rear this was to get Windows 7 working. I even called Microsoft Windows technical support and it was them who stated that I needed drivers for the Hitachi hard drive.

Now, everything works FINE. My system is working wonderful! Thanks for your advice.

I had the same problem tried various things and then created a new partition of under 100 GB. After that Windows 7 recognized the drive and I installed it onto the new drive. When that was done I went into Computer Management deleted the extended volume and then extended the primary C drive all the way across. Hope this helps the next person.
