my laptop wont start up ...am thinking it could be the fan as i cannot hear or feel it when i switch on the laptop ...all the buttons light up then all go off again... i have to repeatedly switch on n off for over an hour till the screen flickers on n off a good few times then the fan finally warms up and starts up ...i am afraid now to switch my laptop off in case it happens again as it was much worse today than yesterday...if anyone can help assist me in this matter i would greatly appreciate it ...

The fan should not always run in a laptop, sounds like you have a motherboard issue more than anything else. It's an old laptop, about $160 in full working shape. If you want to make things easier on you, get a same model system and just move your hard drive into it. Would be easier than having someone replace the motherboard to try and fix the issue.
