[SOLVED] i have a idea...

Hi.
So i have RAIDMAX NEON RGB case which has 3 fans at the front, and a rear exhaust fan.Nothing on the 'roof' of the case.Well since i have a 120mm cooler laying around,i was wondering if i can just cut a fan frame in my case.It would be between the motheboard and the top front fan.
You can see here where i plan on doing this: View: https://imgur.com/RXabNUu
(litterally in the middle of the top front fan and the top of the motherboard.).
There's exactly 130mm of space between the mobo and the top front cooler. So its perfect :).Of course no cables interfering that space.

I have all the tools need for this to be like it came from the factory.
What do you think?

Edit:Also i might be doing this above the mobo.I will se about that.

Solution
If you want to mod your case, by all means, you do what you want to do.
I see nothing wrong with cutting out a hole to make space for another fan.
However, be sure to cut out the hole for just the fan and not the entire fan shroud, since you'll also need little holes around the cutout for screws for the fan to mount.
I would consider some kind of grate, or filter on top of it, but not entirely necessary for exhaust.

However, there's a reason why top mounted fans are placed above the motherboard and always leave space between them and the front panel fans, because it's for airflow purposes and proper exhausting of heat within the case.

If you place it right above the intake area, it'll mostly just draw air away from the intake and less...

If you place it right above the intake area, it'll mostly just draw air away from the intake and less from within the case where all the components are generating heat, and this will also make it so that less air gets moved across the components to the back to then be exhausted from the rear.

Keep that in mind.

What you could do, and it's pretty ghetto (but not any more ghetto than cutting your own hole in your case) is to cut holes for fans above the motherboard, and just mount the fans on top of the case on the outside.

Ok thanks for the advice.I think know where your going with this.I think cooler master has that type of stuff.I mean fan outside of the case than a filter than like a roof on top of the case.I will see about that. Also what do you think about this.
I want to cut 2 holes on top of my case. One above the mobo, and one in the space i wanted in the first place. How do you suggest for them to be places.Should they be placed like to grab air from outside and put it in the case or vice versa?

top mounted fans should just be exhaust since heat rises.

I wouldn't bother cutting out in that space near the front, you can instead just cut two holes starting at the back and moving forward towards the front and mount two fans side by side as exhaust above the motherboard area to get the best flow of air and heat exhaust.
And if you don't like the idea of the way fans mounted on the outside of the case would look, then you can take into consideration coming up with some sort of shroud to put over the top of the fans to make it look nicer.

If you have access to a 3D printer through a friend or something that they can make you one on the cheap then you can also do that.
Otherwise gotta figure out something alternative on your own.
