I have a unliscenced version of windows 8.1 pro with media center and i want to buy a legit copy of windows 8 not pro, what should i do? Can i buy it online? Cause all of the products ive seen say they require a previous windows 7 user. I dont want to make the wrong choice and end up wasting money, so if someone could help that would be great.

If you trust your copy you then enter the key and keep going. I would format however as pirated versions have you don't know what on them.

is there an option i can take that doesnt require me physically having the disk? I wanted to have everything squared away by tonight if possible. for example, could i get this and be okay digitally downloading it?

it says in the product listing that it requires windows 7 or 8 but on the actual product page it says windows 7 users

As the student version they will only email the code to a XXX.edu address. So if you aren't a student then you can't use it. And I'm not sure if that's just the code or not. Win7 MS had official .iso's of it out. They changed it with 8.0/8.1 and you need a disk. If you want this by tonight, then you probably need to go to a local store and pick up the box.
