My HDD is acting up i'm a computer noob so forgive me if i sound dumb. So whats happening is its not letting me write to my drive anymore unless i open command prompt and do the chkdsk thing and let it run its course. The next time i restart my laptop i have to repeat that process. Not sure why its doing this but i'm assuming its my hard drive about to fail. Although I am ok with that because it was slow in the 1st place. So this is my question since its a laptop and i have to wait for a new SSD or HDD that will fit to come in the mail. Is it possible to run windows and pc games and what not off a external USB SSD or hard drive temporarily until my new one that I've yet to order arrives?

Dell Inspiron gaming laptop
GPU: gtx 1050
1tb HDD
Intel i5
8GB Ram

Possible? Yeah, but going to be slow. Make sure your laptop has USB 3 at least, or it may be too slow to consider as an option. You may also have to convert the USB drive, whether an SSD or External HDD, from a Dynamic Disk to a basic disk, this should allow you to install Windows on it, just make sure when your installing it you set Windows to install on a partition that doesn't have anything on it as this may end up deleting things on it like games and other applications.
