Hi i have just bought a 1tb toshiba DT01ACA100 and i have connected it up to my pc, but the only issue is that i cannot see the HDD in the computer, however when i go to device manager and look in the disk drives tab, it shows up. so it is obviously getting power to it and a sata connection. i am just confused, any help will be highly appreciated, cheers

Welcome to the TH community, dadsavage!

Since your HDD is brand new, then @Someone Somewhere is right that you should check Disk Management. You can even try rescanning the Disks, in case it's not recognized. However, the hard drive will most probably be detected there as Unallocated with a black bar. What you'd need to do in this situation is Initialize the HDD and then Partition & Format it.

These two procedures should help you gain access to the storage from This PC/My Computer and use it however you want.

Keep us posted if you encounter any issues! :)
Good luck!
