My monitor was fine but when I came back an hour later there was this random black bar across my monitor. I have dual monitor and it only appears on one of it. It could be an issue with the monitor itself then? It doesn't just stay on a particular program though. It's on my desktop too. I can see it when I turn my monitor on.

If the attempt to remove it doesn't work, contact the maker's tech line or take it back where you bought it. No sense dealing with a defective product.
My Dell started showing a red vertical line one morning when I fired it...
Very good chance that the monitor has developed a flaw.
First, connect the good monitor to the video outlet the 'damaged' one is using to be sure it isn't the video card/graphics chip. If the bar doesn't show up on your good monitor, plug the 'damage' monitor into the other port and see if it shows up. Of course, if it does, then you have confirmed that the monitor has developed a defect. I had a similar problem with a Dell, but mine was a vertical red line down one side.
Does the black bar go away after the monitor warms up? Or is it permanent?

Yeah it seems that it may be a problem with the monitor itself. Just did what you told me to do and it the black bar only appears on the one monitor. And no, when the monitor warms up I can see it still.

Is it in the same place all the time? I ask because it looks like it could be a "mark" on the monitor screen, Just to be sure, try taking a very soft rag, dampen it with water and a very small amount of rubbing alcohol and try gently 'buffing' the line at the far right edge - see if it changes or clears up. How old is the monitor? Worth talking to the manufacture even if it is slightly out-of-warranty.

Yeah it's pretty much in the same place all the time. I've only had this monitor for 2-3 months.

My Dell started showing a red vertical line one morning when I fired it up. First contact with tech support (somewhere in India or some other country) went poorly and I really told them they didn't know diddlypooh and I would not buy from them again AND I would try to convince the
school district I worked for at the time to likewise look at other vendors. That was Sunday(early afternoon) in Calif. Next morning, recomposed I made an attempt to reach Dell USA service; however, the supervisor I spoke to in Sri Lanka looked at the previous day's contact and instantly
(well, almost) apologized, processed an RMA on the spot, and I was shocked to have a NEW monitor delivered the next afternoon.
My point is this; if that line is not on the surface of the screen, it is defective. If you bought it new, they should replace it.
Good luck. Let us know what happens.
