I have a Samsung M3 1.5Tb EHD and its not working?

The EHD is a couple months old and has been fine but when I connected it to my TV to watch a film the TV didnt recognising it? So I connected the EHD to my laptop and I cant see the device under 'My Computer'?? The blue light on the EHD is flashing so theres definatly a power supply. My laptop is running windows 8. Please help me

Could be the hard drive has failed,possibly by being dropped?
Or the EHD electronics have failed,this could be checked by removing the Hard drive from the case and fitting it into a PC.

I dont think its been dropped?? So is it possible to get the data off of it? And would I need to go to a computer technician to get this done? also I take it the EHD is now broken and I have to buy a new 1??? No hope of saving this 1?? Its only 4 months old!?

If it is only 4 months old it should still be under warranty.
If you have access to a PC (desktop not laptop) then you could remove the hard drive from the EHD case and fit it into the PC ,if the hard drive is ok then you would be able to access it and copy all of your files.You could then fit the HD into an empty EHD case and use it as normal.
