So your going to learn by doing? What reading did you do to start? What did this reading say about multipliers, etc? You don't overclock by just changing things in the bios, thats a good way to kill the computer.

With modern CPUs, you usually can't increase the multiplier. Only the "extreme editions" for Intel, or the "black editions" from AMD allow this. For most of us, all we can do is increase the FSB/HTT. Lowering the multiplier is good if you are pushing the FSB very high, as it allows the CPU to run at a frequency that its stable at. For example, if your chip stock runs at 266MHz x 10 (2.66GHz), it might not be stable if you increase the FSB to 400. (4GHz) Dropping the multiplier down to 8 might allow the overclock to work, assuming this mythical chip can run stable at 3.2GHz. Whether or not you need to change the multiplier depends on so many things I'm not even going to start trying to answer that question. For the tiny overclock that you've done so far, you're fine. I suggest a lot more reading however, I don't think you fully understand what your doing.

got a recommendation for for reading ? thanks!!!

Try reading some of the threads in the overclocking forum. I didn't see any easy/beginner guides, so I'm not sure if that will help. You might also want to try a yahoo search like "overclocking Athlon" and see what comes up.
