I have an old emachine etower 667ix and want to make it work with internet so I bought an adapter for it so Ethernet can go through a USB port. I have the CD driver for it to work how do I install it? its windows Me and it does say its compatible on the adapter packaging but I don't know how to install it help step by step! don't tell me to buy another computer I have one but I want to make this one work.

Insert the CD and plug in the network card to the USB. Then go to the device manager find the device that has a question mark or exclamation point and choose to update drivers. When prompted you will need to point the installer to the CD and with luck it will install the files needed. You may also want to see if you can find a newer driver online with an exe you can install from also just in case.

I cant find no exclamation mark or question or updating options. could you be more specific for my windows? or a place to find them online and how to get them from my laptop to the old desktop. and the old desktop only has one usb port and I don't know if my usb drive would be compatible with the desktop

nothing happens when I put the CD in just some reading noises and that's it. when I first plug in the adapter without a CD a screen does pop up but I cant install anything.
