i have an asrock x99 extreme4, everything looked like it would load windows, then a blue screen come onto the monitor, no mes

just bought this motherboard, got into bios, and didn't mess with anything/ then shut down windows so I could reboot into windows 8
it did it's windows logo with the little balls going around in a circle, then it goes to this blue screen
on the monitor, no error messages, there is nothing at all, just a plain blue screen/
what am I doing wrong that is keeping windows from loading up?

there is no error message at all, it's just a blue screen, and when I hit the esc key the screen turned purple.
is there something that needs to be reset in the cmos or bios?

Please dont pick a solution until your problem is actually solved and for this one I am at a loss. We'll have to wait for someone elses input.

in the meantime, I am going to pull the hard drive and stick it into an old pc to see if it will load properly.
if it doesn't I will come back and let you know
thanks for your time, and I will also monitor this question, like you said, maybe somebody else may know what is going on,
