HI guys,

I just need advice. I have an i7-6700k. What is the best modern gpu in 2021 to pair with it (1440p monitor but i got no problem gaming in 1080p)

Solution
Try a 3060 ti to be honest. Its the best bang for buck. The 3060 is a fine gpu but doesnt perform THAT well on 1440p compared to a 3060ti or 3070.

My rtx 2060 are 6700k at stock are a great match at 1440p high/ultra settings I ussuly target 45-60 fps depending on the game, but ussuly my gpu is overwhelmed before my cpu is at 100 percent in newer triple a games beacuase I ussuly favor ultra settings over more fps, in older games it would probably be the opposite. I would say for 1440p with a 6700k, get at least something with gtx 1070/1660/RX 5600 xt preformance level and at least 6 gigs of vram, but if you like ultra settings and high quality textures and are fine with 60 fps, it might be worth getting something like A rtx 2070/rx5700 xt maybe even 2080/3060, but only if you are targeting ultra settings 1440p beacuase the 6700k would bottleneck a high end gpu if you are targeting high refresh rate at like medium settings, but for 60 fps ultra 1440p the 6700k and a high end gpu will be fine together.

Ah, didn't notice the 1440p part, for that you could go a touch above a 5500xt or 1650 super. Those 2 show an almost perfect match in the calculators at 1080p.
Bottleneck calculators are nothing but utter crap. You should not advise them, don't trust them and certainly don't use them.

You CAN NOT tell the amount of bottleneck there is in a system without knowing all the variables. A system does not have the same performance loss in each and every game, with different drivers, windows updates, temps, etc...

So, every single scenario is different and you have to be extremely specific to find how much performance loss your system has.

Your question should be "What are good GPU matches for my i7 6700K at 1440p gaming? Still we do not know the games involved (AAA titles, esport, a mix) and the graphic settings.

Is not the same to play esport game with performance settings than go with something like CBP 2077 with very high or ultra graphic settings.

In any case, I agree that Radeon RX 5700XT/6700XT or the Geforce RTX 3060/3060ti/3070 are good choices. It will depend on your freesync monitor compatibility too.

Depending on what you choose (GPU wise) and what you play, you mind find that the GPU is been limited by the CPU in some scenarios, or maybe not, is really, really hard to forsee.

Thank you for replying! This helps me with my decision that I have to make.
