Since laptops don't have a memory compatibility list, you can run CPUZ to see your current memory info.
From there buy comparable memory with same speed and preferably same timings.
I have an i7 MSI laptop and had no issue mixing RAM with higher speed from GSkill and Kingston. Its been stable for more than 5 years.

Also make sure by opening your laptop and reading us what memory you currently have. Make sure you have at least an empty memory slot and if your RAM is DDR4 or DDR3.

i did and it has an empty solt, and a currently installed Hynix DDR4 2666 8GB ram

Then you can safely install a GSkill DDR4 2666 8Gb because memory size has to match.
I recommend GSkill because they tend to be more compatible from personal experience with laptops and desktops.

No its either 2x8Gb or 2x16Gb otherwise it might not work and dual-channel won't work for sure.
