I have AT&T Internet service. My modem is on the fritz. Can I buy a different brand modem or do I have to buy another AT&T mod

My att modem is going bad, since I don't lease this modem, can I purchase another brand, say net gear and ply that unit in?

I gave up on AT&T-supplied modems years ago. My current modem is dLink (modem only), and I have no complaints from it (albeit on a slow 3mbps service, that the max I could get over the phone line).

Best solution is to call your ISP, and ask them which modems are supported for you to purchase.

According to the ATT website, these are your options, but I would still speak to your provider to confirm against your specific plan before ordering.
