[SOLVED] I have been having POST issues since building my PC and just now had back-to-back crashes, is my PSU failing?

Hi! So about 2 months ago I upgraded my PC from an Omen 880-020 to what I currently have which is;

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

GPU: RX 580 4GB

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory

Mobo: AsRock B550M Pro4

Case: Lian Li 205m

PSU: Prebuilt 500W PSU that came with the Omen, got the Omen on Christmas of 2017

I wanted to keep the case, but the Omen case had a built in I/O shield so I had to go back to the store and buy a case as well. The only things kept over from the Omen are the RX 580, the SSD and HDD, and the PSU. This is the first PC build I have done.

Now, ever since I built this PC since the night I finished building it, I have been having POST issues. It wouldn't POST on the first turn on and it took a couple tries and small adjustments for it to POST, which I have later found it may not have been a problem with the build but rather something that will continue happening.

I put the PC to sleep at night rather than shutting it down because I did that all the time with the Omen. The problem with this PC is that sometimes it just doesn't wake up after it goes to sleep. The power light goes solid(compared to the blinking light during sleep), but their isn't any video output. I believe the keyboard backlights turn on, but I can't 100% be sure because I don't remember(hasn't happened for a bit). It used to be really common but recently it's only happened like once in the past 2 weeks or so. So anyways, whenever it does this I have to turn off the PC through the power button. However, whenever I turn it back on, most of the time it doesn't POST. I have to turn it off/on multiple times for it to actually POST, but so far every time it has POSTed eventually, the max being 4 tries. There was also a problem with restarts where it would turn off but not back on and I would have to turn it off by the power button. Every time it does the POST thing, there are POST error lights on the mobo lit up. I don't know if they are the same every time, but when I finished building the PC and turning it on for the first time, the POST lights were on CPU and DRAM.

Edit: forgot to mention, the case fans do spin during the POST error thing.

A somewhat fix I did was turning off Fast Startup. I think that may be the reason the sleep thing doesn't happen as often, and also since turning it off restarts haven't had any issues. I still had the POST issue, though.

The sleep/POST thing makes it seem like it might be a PSU issue, but I put it off because I haven't had consistent issues with my normal use and I had no issues with this stuff on my old PC(which is where the PSU is from). I did have a random blue screen on 1/27/21 though, which I can provide the BugCheck codes for, and on 2/7/21 I went to the store and came back to my PC in the POST error when I never turned off my PC(so it crashed).

The reason I'm making this post though is because I woke up about an hour ago, waked my PC up from sleep, no problems. But then I went to the bathroom and came back to it turning back on, so it crashed for some reason. It turned back on, and I logged back into Windows, but I left the PC again and it crashed again. It fully restarted both times, didn't have the POST thing, but I'm just worried that it's my PSU failing.

Like I said, I never had any problems with my old PC in terms of the PSU. It didn't have the sleep/POST problem, and it never randomly crashed aside from the random blue screen once in a blue moon. It just seems weird that the PSU would start failing as soon as it switched PCs, unless maybe it's just really wonky because it's a PSU from a prebuilt and not with its prebuilt build anymore. I haven't had any problems aside from the sleep/POST thing(which have been pretty rare recently), and that blue screen on 1/27/21, the crash on 2/7/21, and the 2 crashes earlier today. I don't have much money so I hope I don't have to replace anything, but I'm also super worried that the PSU actually is failing and that it might take the rest of the PC with it.

Thank you!

First because I would imagine the "Prebuilt 500W PSU that came with the Omen " is a crappy PSU as prebuilt PSUs generally are.....and I wouldn't want to be risking my other components with it.

...and second because what you are seeing is pretty common with a subpar PSU

- If you replace the motherboard you need to wipe the OS drive completely and do a clean windows install. Did you do this? If not you could be chasing issues forever.

- As mentioned, power supplies in pre-builts generally are not very good.

Are there any good budget PSUs you might recommend? I really don't have much money, so like max maybe $80 USD. I have a Micro Center near me if it makes a difference.

Gotcha. Anything else I have to worry about during the installation of the PSU, or is it good to go once I install it and connect everything?
What I would do is.....power down....and I would blow out the dust...as I usually blow out the dust whenever I change something in my PCs.,,,,and carefully remove the old PSU and PSU plugs (write down where all the plugs go if you can't remember).

Take your time...simple things like dropping a screw and losing it under the motherboard can make the job a lot harder.

Install the new PSU and all the plugs....and go slow....and be careful.

Then it should power up.

Sounds good, thank you so much!

Hey again! I bought the Corsair CX550M and just installed it. Everything went good, PC immediately boot up and I got into Windows. I was on the desktop for about 1-2mins before it suddenly crashed. The difference this time is the PC stayed off when it crashed rather than immediately rebooting after the crash like it did with the old PSU. I also still have the problem where it takes multiple on/offs before it will POST(took 3 tries after the crash for it to boot). Something I noticed is that on the try that worked I heard a loud fan whirring(not a bad sound, just a sound that a fan is going) for a second then it booted. On the tries that didn't work I can see the back case fan moving but I didn't hear the whirring.

It's been about 20 minutes and it hasn't crashed again. The other 2 crashes yesterday morning happened within like 5 minutes of being on the desktop, so maybe it's something related to when it's first powered on.

Doesn't sound like a PSU issue.

Actually, the Omen 500W PSU is a very robust Lite-On PSU. Should be virutally bullet-proof.

Yeah, like I said above;

After that post, I used it for about another hour before I had to leave the house. I left the PC on to see what would happen while I was gone. I was gone for almost 2 hours and just came back to the PC off and trying to turn on but stuck in the POST thing where it doesn't boot up. I had a crash like that on 2/7/21 while I was gone where I left the PC on as well. So far the crashes have been either within minutes of waking up from sleep/turning on or while I'm not doing anything on the PC. All of the crashes have had a Critical event in Event Viewer, except for the most recent one that just happened. However, it was followed by the "Audit events have been dropped by the transport. 0" Error event that shows up on all of the crashes I have had in Event Viewer.

I know. Sounds like either a motherboard or OS install issue. If the OS install is fresh, it's the motherboard. It think someone already mentioned that.
