i have built a computer and the display doesnt seem to be working

i have built a new pc and even though all the pieces are in the display isnt working all of the pieces are in and it turns on but the display doesnt work?

pieces are :
ASUS P8H61 - motherboard
corsair vs550 - power supply
ddr3 vengeance pro series - memory
intel 1155 socket processor not sure the model

it is possible that your cpu doesn't have on board graphics....
What processor did you install?

i dont think this is the case as i have used the processor before as i have just changed most thing but that and the graphics card
