i have installed nvida 8800gt its working on pci 2.0 but not on pci express .

i have installed nvida 8800gt its working on pci 2.0 but not on pci express.i was having my previous card i plugged it in pci express it worked.whats the problem.

PCI and PCI express are not compatible in any way. Which ever interface is on the card, that interface has to be used on MB, no ifs and butts about that.

my card is detected but it gets hang up at the booting of windows on pci express but it is gets boot up at pci 2.0 so what should i do

i have tried to reinstall windows but again it dose not work

i updated my bios it didnt worked
i tried 8800gt on my friends pc it worked.

Well what it is PCI or PCI express, ??? Those 2 are not interchangeable !!! You just can' put a PCI card into PCI express bus and vice versa !!!

my card was working on my previous pc in pci express it was core 2 duo but then i bought my new pc core 2 quad and it didnt work

i have given my 8800gt to my cousin for some days, tomorrow or day after tomorrow i am going to my cousins house to bring it back if there is a solution please tell.
