Windows 7 64-bit is not supported on the Dimension 3100. Only Dell has the correct drivers for it's own brand of computers, but I can tell you they have never released any Windows 7 64-bit drivers for it (nor Windows 7 32-bit drivers either).

You should have checked Dell's website before upgrading the OS.

I have a another Dell Dimension running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 with the Aero graphics on the standard Dell system, so I asked the question as this is a 64 Bit Version of windows 7 and it is running slow on Spider otherwise OK. Dell site does not help as when you down load any drivers they always come at 32 bit so I wanted to know how to get the down at 64.

It seems Dell does not offer any downloads for 64-bit OS on the Dimension 3100.
Apparently this machine uses the Intel 82915G/GV/910GL motherboard - which according to Intel is not supported on Windows 7.

I have tried the Windows XP x64 drivers offered by Intel and Dell XP 32 drivers but they do not work in Win7 64-bit.
It also seems the driver does not come from windows update.

I'd like to know if anyone finds a solution to this - in the mean time I might just have to stick with XP.
