i have msmpeng.exe virus

msmpeng.exe is taking abut 1 gig of ram and a ton of cpu power i tried ending it and a pop op came up sayin not only that i cant run command prompt or any anti viruses which is annoying i tried re-naming the install file for the anti virus turning it on and off booting into linux and using an anti virus (win 7)

msmpeng.exe is possibly not a malware, its a Windows Defender process.

Windows Defender may be performing a background malware scan which is using up your resources. If you want to remove it, just disable Windows Defender
