I have no audio

I have recently built a PC and have set it all up. Everything is working, apart from the audio.

I have an ASRock H81 PRO BTC motherboard, and the audio ports (green, blue and pink) on the back of the computer are there - but when I plug in the speakers (in the green port) it is not detected on the computer and no drivers seem to work.

I also have an AMD Radeon HD 7970 graphics card installed - could this be the reason why the audio is failing?

Any help please? Thank you. :)

Thanks for your response.

Yes, I've already tried the drivers from the website for my motherboard. It installs successfully and asks me to reboot, but when I do - there is still a red cross on the sound icon. I'm using a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, and connecting it to my monitor. And there is no option to select any sound in the sound settings. 🙁

So make sure the speakers are plugged in and have power and then right click on that icon and go to sounds and under the playback tab right click and choose Show Disabled Devices and see if there is anything in that list you can choose from.

Have you checked the speakers to make sure they work on another device?
Do you have headphones that you could plug in and try?

Also on your Device Manager does your audio driver have a yellow ! beside it or an arrow beside it?
