I have already gone to nvidia control panel and set my graphics processor to "high performance nvidia processor in global and program settings. I also set my physX processor to my 1050ti, and disabling my intel integrated card which is my primary gpu makes it not recognize a gpu, and I gget 6 fps.

My cooler is one I bought off amazon and goes under my laptop, how should I apply thermal paste?
Also I think my laptop has its own coolers but they seemed to be doing nothing
I should rephrase. Take the bottom of you laptop apart and locate the CPU. Unscrew the fan and the heat sink off it. Clean the surface of the heat sink and CPU off with Isopropel alcohol (higher the % the better). Reapply thermal paste. Reattach the heat sink and close up the laptop. Clean out any dust inside the laptop and inside the fans and heat sink fins.

I play fortnite, aim lab, minecraft and the Witcher a bit. My specs are: gtx 1050ti, 16 gig ram, intel i5 8th gen. I have a 240 gig SSD and I use a laptop, and the laptop monitor so a 60hz generic pNp monitor

70 - 90 ferenheit
Anything over 80 when not bench marking is considered very hot. And you should not have your PC on when the CPU is 90. High temps like that can cause damage to your CPU.

Take your cooler off and clean it and reapply thermal paste and see if that helps your temps which then will help your performance.

Your system is thermal throttling hard which is explains the super low FPS.

(I'm not sure if this makes a difference) But if I have 50 farenheit when just opening my PC still has low fps. Also in the first place I was asking how to change my primary gpu
Also, what is a good CPU temperature?

I understand you are trying to change the GPU but the setting you have changed looks like you did it right and your system is using the GPU but since your CPU is so hot it doesn't matter because your whole system is thermal throttling.

Idle 24-30's and under load no more than 70. It all depends on the set up so that's a broad question.
