[SOLVED] I have really good specs but my games run poorly.

CPU: Ryzen 7 1700x
GPU: GTX 1080
Memory: 16gb DDR4 RAM

When playing games with my friends, I notice them talking about their FPS and in some games I'll get roughly 40 FPS and I get told that they are getting around 100FPS and they have significantly less powerful specs, my computer should not be running as poorly as it does. Please help me.

(Did you fresh install Windows when you built this computer on a wiped drive?)

Okay several things jump out

1) you DEFINITELY need to reinstall Windows fresh

2) your ram is at stock speeds (2133) which badly hampers ryzen. Update your bios before the reinstall, and see if xmp/docp/a-xmp will work for your ram at 3200 mhz. If not enable the 3000mhz profile, then manually set speed to 2933

3)Check cpuz to see if it says your memory is single or dual channel
