I have Stuttering with my new CPU (AMD FX-8350)

CPU : AMD FX-8350 4.0 Base Turbo 4.2
Mobo : ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3
GPU : GTX 960 Turbo 4GB GDDR5
PSU : be quiet 500 watts
RAM : DDR3 1600 2x 4 Ballistix (Getting one more tomorrow DDR3 1866 8GB)
SSD : Samsung SSD 850 EVO 120GB ATA Device (OS Installed)
2nd drive HDD : Generic S100 Hard drive ATA Device (1TB)


I have since Friday a new CPU & Power Supply (500watts) and now I have the
Problem some Games Stutter with just a little bit Action (Overwatch) and CSGO just randomly Stutters from 200+ FPS down to 30-60 for 5 seconds and that is strongly noticeable but in Arma 3, Skyrim (Shader Mods and alot of Graphical mods with out problems), Fallout 4, their is no Stutter and thinking to reinstall some games new like Overwatch and CSGO (Trying doesn't hurt)

I was searching fixes and all of them helped a little bit. (Things I did: BIOS Reset, Cool 'n' Quiet deactivated, BIOS Update and Installing the Chipset again that actually worked pretty well with some Games)

Now the last fix was reinstall Windows and I'm not sure about that if that even will fix my
Problem because my Older CPU didn't Stutter at all I even double checked everthing if something is not right.

My CPU Temps are under 60°c (Ingame Overwatch) and doesn't Throttle and my Motherboard supports up to 140watts for the CPU and was designed for FX-Series.

If somebody knows how to fix it please help.
My last solution is reinstall Windows.
(Trying to reinstall some Game if that works)

And yeah the CPU is Old but it works great and I have 70+ FPS in Overwatch with Ultra.

Ok I strongly suspect your motherboard. When gaming does your CPU speed (GHz) drop?

That's not a good board for a 125w cpu. It only uses a 4+1 VRM setup and has no VRM heatsink. Try monitoring your CPU frequency during a cpu stress test, my suspicion is the CPU is being throttled to 1.4Ghz when under load.

No it doesn't drop but the Turbo activates up to 4.2 GHz Auto

Are you absolutely sure there is no drop in CPU speed? Its a common problem with that board and 125w CPS's? Don't mix up usage and speed.

Are you absolutely sure there is no drop in CPU speed? Its a common problem with that board and 125w CPS's? Don't mix up usage and speed.

My guess would be when the cpus throttles the flow of data in ram going to the cpu is also slowed and the data coming it doesn't slow as fast so it fills up a bit.

Cpu doesn't have to overheat for VRM throttling to happen. VRM throttling happens because the VRMs are overloaded/overheating and there is not temp sensor on the VRMs. Feels like I see this issue atleast once a week here.

Yeah its not CPU temps but VRM (voltage regulation modules) that sit on the motherboard beside the CPU. The top down airflow of the stock cooler pushes air down and over the VRM's. Unless your current cooler is top down airflow Id suggest going back to the stock cooler. The VRM's throttle the CPU speed to reduce the load on them so they don't fry. That board has the most basic 4+1 VRM design with no heat sink on them.

Yep, that will be working the VRM's quite hard to maintain that usage. Gaming (prolonged high CPU usage) is where this problem usually occurs.

I can do that I have a Stock cooler beside me and I have Thermal Paste if the Stock cooler didn't help.
