I have this issue, what are your thoughts of what could be wrong.

my setup is

Msi B450m mortar max
Ryzen 2400G
2x8gig DDR4
ssd 240gig

so the issue is swiched on pc and only got the mystic light, power led or hdd led dont light up and pc wont start psu is working and motherboard EZDebug led shows cpu as issue so was thinking cpu was dead.

So resetted cpu with fresh paste but still the same so gave in for the rest of the day but the next day switched on pc it worked for an hour but had to go out so shut it down and when i came home it wouldnt work again showing cpu as fault.

So i got my spare Asrock b450m pro4 and stuck the cpu in there and its worked ever since so would the msi b450m mortar max have some issue that says cpu is faulty when its not. anyone else had this issue.

I plan to run the Ryzen 2400G for a week in the Asrock board and then take it out and put it back in the MSI board on saturday and see if it still shows the same cpu Debug led.

Has anyone dealt with MSI 3 year warranty or should i tr to return it back to retailer even if its over 12 months old.

Thanks In Advance

Your specs are incomplete. You forgot to include the make and model of your PSU and it's age alongside your cooling for the platform.

pc wont start psu is working
How did you verify that the PSU is, working?

If everything in your previous iteration works on the new(spare) board, then I think your BIOS on the motherboard got corrupt. You have a feature labelled as Flash BIOS Button on your motherboard. Refer to page 22 and page 40 in your motherboard manual to see if a BIOS flash(with the latest version) helps revive the board.

Worth checking if it works after the mentioned BIOS flash. But apparently you are not the only one with this issue:
According to a comment there, the issue seems to be a problem about the CPU socket on the MB.

As for the warranty, I would contact the retailer first. They may refer you to the manufacturer, but generally speaking, you have a contract with the retailer, who has a contract with the manufacturer, so the retailer would be who I would contact first about it.

I reflashed bios but it didnt want to work kept going to cpu led fault but after 6 restarts it back but tomorrow might be back to Ez debug cpu led.

will post back if it fails again

Put pc on today and back to same issue, my last chance of fixing it was to change motherboard battery just incase its the cause only time will tell.
Not sure...did you already try replacing the battery? That may help mainly be resetting CMOS since you reflashed BIOS. I seriously doubt a retailer will give you an exchange if you've had it a year, but you might as well try since the answer's always "NO" until you do.

Going the MSI route for warranty coverage is the most likely way to get it fixed if nothing else works. Contact their tech support, they'll want to know what you've tried and may have some other things to go with it. I've never had to use them but I've known several others who had good results when they messed up their BIOS flashback.

I didnt replace Battery from the start of this issue as time and date was showing as correctly.

What made me think of battery was firstly i was running Qbit and it started a recheck of all files and the other reason was it wouldnt see my windows 10 flash drive when inserted to front panel usb 3.0, it would see it in windows but not show in Bios.

Since changing battery pc ahs started every time, so it looks like it was a Bios battery issue oly time will tell but so far so good.

When you changed the battery you most likely managed to 'fix' something else that broke or came loose when you changed CPU thermal paste.

All the battery does is provide power to a small area of CMOS memory to retain certain BIOS and real-time clock settings when the system is powered off. You can start the system even with the battery completely removed...but the clock will be wrong and all the settings will be in defaults. It may not boot to the OS if custom settings are required to find or access the boot block but you will be able to get into BIOS to change the settings so it can. It only loses them the when you next shut the system down (power off) without a battery so a restart won't lose the settings.

since taking out the Msi motherboard and replacing it with my Asrock motherboard not had any issues like before.

I think I tested it long enough to be confident that no other part is to blame don't you think
