When I put my computer to sleep, the screen goes to power save mode and the fans all turn off as expected, and the power button on my case starts flashing. Lets say I leave it for a couple hours to do other things, when I come back and press the space button, nothing happens. The power button continues to blink. Nothing happens if I mash the space button, press any other button on the keyboard, move the mouse, or even press the power button. The only solution is to completely unplug the computer and then restart it. Side issue, When I do turn the computer back on, after sleep or just normally, i have to wait a good 10 minutes after booting into windows to open anything up or do pretty much anything. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably not the answer u want, but my only option offered is, re-install Windows from scratch, unless you have kept backups that allows you to "Go-back" to a known-to-be-good checkpoint.
this happens with me too but not always and when i do have to unplug the power cord and then start the pc unfortunately the pc resumes from sleep :O are you using wireless keyboard and mouse ? are you using windows 10 ?

Im on windows 7 and i have a wireless keyboard but a wired gaming mouse

the wireless keyboard could be the reason. If you have a wired keyboard around try using that for a while and see what happens. I have both wireless keyboard and a mouse and as i am also facing the same problem as you so i am definitely sure its because of wireless keyboard. I will try a wired mouse and a keyboard and i will let you know how it goes :)
