Hi. I have a Huawei EchoLife HG8245Q and every couple days, I get random DNS errors and sometimes the internet won't work at all on the PC or phone unless I factory reset it every time. Why do I have to do this? The only thing I change is the admin password and my WiFi SSID. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! 😀

Solution

its an ISP provided router?
are you renting it? if so they will be obliged to replace it.
if you purchase id from them it should be replaceable under warranty
DNS errors? try logging in to the unit, after a reset of course, and tell the router the DNS servers to use.
try first with googles DNS addresses
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
the router will not look up DNS server addresses it will have these set. see if this helps.
if it does you can find another DNS provider or stick with google.

I tried that many times. But what happens is that the default Primary and Secondary are blank. And when I enter Google's DNS and click save, it logs me out of the router. When I log back in, it's still blank. 🙁

I've only had it for like 2 months, and there's no option to update firmware. I think it's done by the ISP
