I am using an i5 3570 on a p8b75m-le. i have tried two psu, one evga 500w and another corsair 430w. they both work with a paperclip to power harddrive and case fan but when i try to turn on motherboard, the fans spin for 1 sec and then turn off again.1 stick of ram, cpu + fan and both power connectors in. is this a problem with the cpu or the motherboard? i will probably buy a cheap 1155 motherboard from ebay to test the cpu but wont get here till a few days and was hoping is there any other way to test it ? reseted cmos as well did nothing, and no beeps from the speaker but the motherboard LED lights up.

then the 2 only options you would have are bringing it to a local PC shop to troubleshoot or try to find a cheap gen 2 celeron or Pentium CPU.

the motherboard doesnt post or turn on, the fans spin for a second and switch off again

Sounds like the board doesn't have a BIOS version which supports your CPU. If it is version lower than 0501, it won't work.

Unfortunately, this theory is impossible to test without either a supported CPU (say, Core i3 2120) or a different mobo. Cannot even rule out the RAM stick, no matter the fact that there are no beeps.

then there is nothing else you can try really then reinstalling all the parts or if you are able to try the PSU on another computer.

is there a way to flash a bios without it booting up?

i have tried two psu a evga 500w and corsair 430w both dont boot the motherboard

no, the motherboard needs to boot in order to do a BIOS update.. if this is really the problem you would need a supported CPU installed

ok thanks for trying i guess ill buy a new motherboard

The chipset is a B75 which is for a gen 2 cpu, you need to update the bios to accept the gen 3 cpu you have. If you can barrow a Gen 2 cpu from anyone just to flash the bios then return it. The easiest way would be to just breadboard it outside the case to flash it.

thanks for the help but i dont know anyone who has a gen 2 :/
