So I have windows 7 on my SSD, and would Like to keep it on my ssd. I have 2 Harddrives. A 1TB and a 500GB. I split the TB to 600 gigs for Steam games, and 300 for programs. I want to put windows 10 on the programs Partition. I have the windows 10 exe and all files needed and I can use setup.exe on windows 7.

I don't know if it will let me install to a different HDD if I use the exe, and I can't F*ckin do it from the BIOS because its not a "GPT" format style.

What do I do??? I'm so annoyed at this point. I've tried everything, changed bios settings, reformated the HDD, Any help please please please!!!

Solution
setup.exe alone is not enough to install windows 10.
You need either windows 10 iso file or windows 10 installation media on USB or DVD.

When you have iso file, mount it and run setup.exe (or run it from windows installation media).
Choose custom installation and specify, where you want windows to be installed.

Note. If your windows 7 is 32bit version, then this way you can install only 32bit windows 10.
1. Why the two OS's? You'll need a second license for the second OS.

2. You'll have to create a whole blank partition for the Win 10 OS. You can't put it in the "programs Partition"

3. What is this "exe"? The Win 10 install is not an exe.

Solution
Put the partition on the SSD... and install Windows 10 to that second partition... and everything will work... There is another step you'll have to do to get your programs running after you install Windows 10.... but you need to do this first.

I would like two OS's just so if there's any games I can cross play with my friends, I can play with them because 7 doesn't support it sadly ;(

I've given up. I got a deadly virus on my pc and Just re installed 7. ;( oh well. I will try again someday.

I gave up for now. But I will keep this post screenshotted for help. Thank you.

The problem is, I don't have a big ssd. I only have 120 and before the fresh install i only had 40gb free. I did a fresh install of 7 and now i have 60. So maybe soon i will install windows 10. Thank you for the help.

Sometimes you need to think outside the box. If I had a 120GB SSD and wanted to dual boot.. I would have split the SSD in half (partition).. have Window 7 on the first and Windows 10 on the second. Then I would have RELOCATED the Documents, Music, Videos and Downloads... to the older HDD.. so both Win7 and Win10 points to that location. Yeah, it might sound complicated... and definitely NOT something for someone who doesn't have patience.. but it does work and saves space.

After re-reading your original post.. I would redo EVERYTHING all over. 600GB for Steam Games will fill up soon. I would get rid of that partition and keep the full 1TB for all Games and Misc. Programs.. Use that 500GB HDD to perform backups of your O/S (drive C). And I would either save up and get another 120+GB SSD or just get a 250 or 500GB SSD.

I don't have alot of steam game. I already have 1 500gb set to save my windows if anything were to happen. Thank you so much man! Appreciate everyone helping me here. I do want to save but it'll be awhile. It's hard out there for a 15 year old ;(
