I have windows 7 professional and the drivers for my cd-dvd rewrite drive wont l

For some reason, my dvd drive wont read a disc now, it just keeps spining. When I use device manager, it says windows could not load a related driver and I should click on the driver tab, then details, it just shows the two drivers listed and nothing else.

Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers for that device? You could try that and see if that helps.

I have done that twice now with no results. I am beginning to wonder if it is a hardware issue and not a programing issue.

This is the message I get when I use device manager to see what is wrong:

This device is working properly.

Windows did not start a related device driver. To learn more, click the Driver tab and then click Driver Details.

When I click on Driver details, it shows the following 2 drivers:

C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\cdrom.sys

C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\GEARAspiWDM.sys

What I find funny here is that if it is working properly, then it should load the damn drivers.

try going out to Windows update & see if there are any newer drivers
