I used Asus r558uf, at first I can't even install the smart gesture... When I can my laptop is not detecting the hardware.

Solution
OK I am a tad confused. Smart Gesture is software, not hardware. So you installed the software, but then you are not able to use it with your touchpad is that right?

I would suggest then uninstalling the driver(s) for the touchpad, restarting the computer, and then when the system restarts it should reinstall the drivers. See if this resolves the issue.

I had the same problem in my G56JR model.
1) smart gesture features stopped working suddenly ... without any reason.
2) what i did was updated the smart gesture software ... and the result was both keyboard and touchpad stopped working ... then i uninstalled smart gesture again which brought keyboard and touchpad back to life......
in the " device manager -mice and other pointing devices " - only " microsoft ps/2 mouse "is shown.
so smart gesture is still not working ..and It is just soooo weirdddd .. i am unable to use the multitouch functions of touchpad.
do you have any solution for that !!!!!!!! ?????

Seems like there isn't anyone that has an answer that works. I'm having the same problem. My computer done updates on my Asus Windows 8.1 and touchpad quit working.
I see the drivers, but when I look in device manager and PC settings, nothing is there.
