So, I just built 2 identical PCs. 1 for me and 1 for a friend. After running some benchmarks each PC wins different ones. I don't know which 1 to keep for myself. Either one will be good, but does 1 stand out to you? Any thoughts on other tests to run? Here's what I did and which PC won/performed better:

(I'm thinking it doesn't really matter to list my specs b/c the question is more for general thoughts, looking at which PC benchmarked better)...

TEST: WINNER

  • UserBenchmark: PC2
    Cinebench (multi core): PC1
    Cinebench (single core): PC1
    CPU-Z Benchmark: PC2
    3D-Mark (Timespy): PC2
    3D-Mark (Skydiver): PC2
Asus Real Bench (all tests: Image Editing, h.264 Video encoding, OpenCL, Heavy Multitasking): PC1
    Aida 64 GPGPU (Single-Precision Julia): PC1
    Aida 64 GPGPU (Double-Precision Mandel): PC1
Aida 64 GPGPU (All other tests): PC2

If they are indeed identical then any difference in testing would be within the margin of error.

Do make sure both computers also have identical testing environments.

For example, having one of the computer's exhaust port blocked by being too close to a wall or full of dust.

What are the actual values for each test?

Ah, I see. So CPU and GPU "silicon lottery" is really only for overclocking, then?

  • UserBenchmark: 100, 97, 74 vs. 101, 98, 76
Cinebench (multi core): 1009 vs. 1004
Cinebench (single core): 187 vs. 164
    CPU-Z Benchmark: 502.3, 2603.6 vs. 503.1, 2608
    3D-Mark (Timespy): 6069 vs. 6098 (GPU), 5691 vs. 5704 (CPU)
    3D-Mark (Skydiver): 60560 vs. 60945 (Graphics), 12833 vs. 12961 (Physics)
Asus Real Bench): 114788.6667 vs. 114039.6667
Aida 64 GPGPU (Single-Precision Julia): PC1 (too many numbers to list, lol)
