Hi, I just purchased a ag271qg ( http://aoc-europe.com/en/products/ag271qg ) to pair with my 1070. I managed to make the refresh rate on it to 165hz, then using NVIDIA control panel i made it work at 165hz. There is a very difference in reduction of blur (based on mouse movement) so it appears to be working.

The thing im unsure about is that there was a dvd included which said driver and manual. I decided to find and download the driver via their website since I do not have an optical drive. Once I downloaded and unzipped it I noticed that there was no .exe file or anything, just some random files and folders with unknown extensions.

Do I even need these drivers, and if so where do I dump them??

Thanks
Liam

Solution
I suppose that those are the drivers of the monitor (maybe a .cab file extension).

In the control panel->System->Device Manager (not sure of teh full path) on the monitor on properties, controller tab just use the update driver option.

You could try using Device Manager to install them...Right click on the start menu button, click on Device Manager, expand the Monitors sub-type, and right-click on the new monitor you have(which I'm guessing is the only one), and click on the 'Update Driver Software..." button, and then select 'Browse my computer for driver software', then browse to the folder of the drivers(after you have extracted the zip file). If they actually work, they'll probably get installed. Otherwise, just let it be - you don't need drivers for a monitor anyway - they're all Plug 'n' Play.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from ihave400houses : "A couple of questions about my new ag271qg AOG 144hz 1440p monitor."

Well if you can run your games at 165fps then you might as well use 165hz but if you cant I would just leave it at 144hz. Setting the monitor to 165hz will increase heat but I doubt by enough to affect the lifespan of the monitor. Not sure why the monitor would turn on by itself but im doubtful thats any indication the monitor is dying.
