I just bought a 27" 144hz 1080p monitor for $130 US after rebates.

What he paid has no bearing on what its worth.

Ya, sounds like a rip off. For $900, you can get a really nice 4k TV for that price, or a 144hz 1080p monitor with a few PC upgrades. Even with the included peripherals, it's not worth it.
