I just wondering about CPU-Z stress test

I got 4.5Gz overclocked 4690k 1.280v DDR3 1600, it's fine running 10 run intelburntest with maximum stress level (6Gb), AIDA64 fine for half hour. I just want quick result so i don't use prime95 all day this time because some say intelburntest is more accurate and fast detecting instability, but anyway when i using stress test from CPU-Z my computer restart when the test took for about every 30-35minutes . Does this stress test from CPU-Z is really reliable cos i never use it? What do you say about it?

My experience with the CPU-Z stress tests have not been all that great. I much prefer other programs to test my CPU. CPU-Z is more of the quick and easy type, just to say you've stressed your CPU on overclock. To be totally honest, CPU-Z doesn't work my CPU hard enough to make it sweat at all.

Yeah i understand that it doesn't give you heat that much like other program does, but i can accept that since real application will not generate too much heat and maybe their calculation different with other stress testing program and i know passing prime95 all day doesn't guarantee my pc can stable running games. What i don't understand about cpu-z stress test is how to determine when it has finished doing stress testing. I need to correct my statement above, my PC did BSOD after 30-35 minutes running cpu-z stress test, but my stable OC 4.3gz 1.255v can ran it 1+ hour with no BSOD and i can stop the stress test. Then i tried stress test again with 4.5gz 1.3v for 8+ hours and my PC doesn't BSOD but my screen just blank black with cursor still working, cpu light still blinking fast like still running processing something. I'll take it as a stable sign since cpu-z taking all my pc resource to 100% like CPU, ram and ssd but i don't know for sure, any other thoughts?

What cooler do you have? Your voltage seems a little high for 4.5ghz on a 4690k. Not dangerous high, as 1.3v seems to be the limit before degradation, but in general high.

CPU-Z, like LogicalProcessing above said, doesn't do enough to stress the CPU. For a 4690k, run prime95 on version 26.6 (not any higher), and run 10minute small FFT tests. Also run a CPU test on Aida64, good half hour to an hour should do it. Can also run an FPU test for 15-25 minutes but bear in mind this will kick out a lot of heat so if you have a stock cooler, I wouldn't recommend an FPU test at all.

If you want to check for all round stability, run a full test in Aida64 for a good 45mins-1hour and if all good then go about your business playing games, browsing, etc and keep an eye on things. You say you want a quick result, when it comes to overclocking there's no such thing in terms of long term stability Take the time to invest in your overclock, ensure its stability, and it'll treat you well.

I'm using noctua nh-u14s, 4.5gz can run only without BSOD if i set to 1.3v. I've tried prime95 and aida 24hours but when i clocked to 4.4gz 1.255 (turned out it still unstable for gaming so i added more volt 1.275) . For 4.5gz with 1.3v i don't want to risk using prime95 because the temp difference was huge when it gets 1.3v limit. I just curious clocking to 4.5gz and stress testing using CPU-Z cos i never tried that before
